March of Dimes Global Report on Birth Defects

Project Details
Concept, Design, Art Direction
4-color, 64-pages, 8.5″ x 11″
Project Description
This international report for the March of Dimes was first to provide a global estimate (in 193 countries) of serious birth defects of genetic or partly genetic origin.
Thinking
The inspiration for the report cover design came from the title “The Hidden Toll of Dying and Disabled Children”. The multifaceted shapes are indications to the global spectrum of countries and the depth of the research while the text “Birth Defects” was colored white to emphasize how the issue has been hidden for so long.
Results
In addition to the main report (PDF), the project included an Executive Summary (PDF), 36″ x 24″ Wall Chart, and a comprehensive 6-foot long, fan-fold appendix containing 9,792 cells of data., The report was distributed globally (print and electronically) and in multiple languages.
